Bambie Thug wins vote to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2024

Bambie Thug has been selected to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, following a public vote on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special on Friday night.

The Cork-based artist won their place at the contest with the song Doomsday Blue, beating singer Isabella Kearney, rapper JyellowL (ft Toshín), fellow rock entrant Alisha, R&B singer Erica-Cody and Louis Walsh’s latest boyband, Next In Line.

“I just believe that we need to send someone who can command a stage that big,” they said ahead of their performance, “and I definitely can.”

Following the show, Bambie said: “I don’t know how I feel – I feel incredible! My words are gone… as a lyricist you’d think I’d have more to say but I’m speechless – I’m so excited and I promise I’m going to do you so proud.”
